HAI Announces Recipients Of 2009 'Salute To Excellence' Awards

To Be Honored At Heli-Expo 2009 In February

The Helicopter Association International (HAI) announced this week its "Salute to Excellence" award winners for 2009. The awards program, now in its 48th year, recognizes outstanding achievement performed by individuals or companies in the international helicopter community.

Winners will be recognized during the HAI "Salute to Excellence" banquet and awards ceremony to be held on Monday, February 23, 2009, at Heli-Expo 2009 in Anaheim, CA.

The winners are:

  • AVIATION MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN AWARD: David Vogel; Senior Technical Representative, American Eurocopter, Grand Prairie, Texas
  • AVIATION REPAIR SPECIALIST AWARD: Jeffery L. Peabody; Maintenance Technician, Air Logistics of Alaska, Inc., Fairbanks, Alaska
  • IGOR I. SIKORSKY AWARD FOR HUMANITARIAN SERVICE: Grand Canyon National Park Helitack, Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters, Grand Canyon, Arizona
  • THE JOE MASHMAN SAFETY AWARD: Tony Cramp; Senior Advisor Air Safety and Global Projects, Shell Aircraft International, Rotterdam, Netherlands
  • OUTSTANDING CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR AWARD: Kevin C. Brandt; Senior Flight Instructor, Bell Helicopter, Fort Worth, Texas
  • AGUSTAWESTLAND COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD: Dr. David B. Nichols; Owner, President, Managing Director; White Stone Family Practice; White Stone, Virginia
  • EUROCOPTER GOLDEN HOUR AWARD: Chicago Fire Department Air Sea Rescue; Chicago, Illinois

HAI is the professional trade association for the international helicopter industry. HAI’s 1,600-plus-member organizations and 1,100 individual members, in more than 74 nations, operate more than 5,000 helicopters approximately 2.3 million hours each year.
