LoPresti, Lockwood Offer Rotax Courses

Week Of Dry Theory Spiced Up With Salsa Fly-In, Latin Festival

If LSA owners and mechanics who'd like to be working on Rotax engines have put off attending a repairman class because it sounded too dry and boring, the wait may be over. LoPresti Aviation and Lockwood Aviation have teamed together to offer two classes that will be held at the LoPresti Aviation Facility in Sebastian, Florida. A registration fee is required.

An Engine Operation and Service Course will be held October 6 and 7, and covers engine systems basics, operational issues, routine service, and inspections, including the condition inspection (100 hour or annual). This course is intended for the Light Sport operator/owner and as an introductory course for homebuilders and licensed maintainers.

The Engine In-Depth Maintenance Course will be held October 11 and 12, and continues into advanced understanding of  engine systems and installation issues, troubleshooting and major component disassembly. It's intended for homebuilders and licensed maintainers.

But what's special about this offering is that on Saturday, October 8, between the two courses, there's the LoPresti LSA Holiday / Salsa Fly-In, an all day event starting with breakfast, seminars, flour bombing and a spot landing competition. After lunch the Latin Festival will start with more great food, salsa classes, and live bands playing into the night. On Sunday there will be kayak tours, golfing, fishing, skydiving and more.

LoPresti recently moved to a new home at the Sebastian Airport after more than 20 years in Vero Beach. On its website, the company declares, "How do we like our new airport home? We LOVE IT. This is a real 'Pilot Friendly' airport.  We have low fuel prices, a courtesy car for quick trips. It's like living at a resort. We have golf, skydiving, kayaking, fishing all available from the airport. If you are looking for a place to fly to to have fun, I highly recommend Sebastian airport. But there is more here than just pilot friendliness. The local town is full of friendly "fishing village" citizens. Everywhere you go there are friendly people."

Sounds like just the way to entice LSA fans to endure an explanation of dry sumps and altitude-compensating carbs. Register by calling (772) 562-4757.
