Embraer Hits Ten Million Flight Hours For ERJ-145 Fleet

A Million Hours Per Year In Service

Brazilian planemaker Embraer announced a significant milestone Tuesday for its ERJ-145 regional jet platform. After a decade in service, the worldwide ERJ-145 fleet has reached ten million flight-hours -- with the total number of cycles (take-off and landing procedures) at around 8.5 million.

Embraer tells ANN the first planes delivered have already achieved 20,000 flight cycles, and continue to operate with sound structural integrity.

The ERJ-145 family, in operation since 1996, offers jets tailored to the specific needs of the regional airline customer. The worldwide fleet has experienced excellent dispatch reliability levels, plus the low operational and maintenance costs valued by operators.

Nearly 1,000 aircraft based on the ERJ-145 platform have been delivered by Embraer, to this date, and fly for 87 operators: 26 in North America, ten in Latin America, 36 in Europe, three in Africa, and 12 in Asia.

China’s HNA Group recently ordered 50 ERJ-145 jets from Harbin Embraer Aircraft Industry (HEAI), a joint venture with China’s AVIC II.

The ERJ-145 family aircraft are designed for high-frequency use and operate up to 3,000 hours per year. The unique family design offers airlines a 95 percent commonality of parts and systems, plus the same flight crew type rating.

The ERJ-145 regional jet family comprises the 37-seat ERJ-135, the 44-seat ERJ-140, the 50-seat ERJ-145 and the ERJ-145 XR, which is an extended-range version of the original ERJ-145.

The ERJ-135 is the platform for the Legacy 600 business jet, as well as shuttle versions of the RJ. The ERJ-145 was also the basis for developing the highly successful Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft family, already in operation in the air forces of Brazil, Mexico and Greece.

ERJ-145 jets carry over 150,000 passengers every day worldwide, transporting more passengers at greater speeds and over longer distances than turboprops. They facilitate right-sizing the routes on which larger aircraft are under-booked, continually creating business opportunities for
