Continental Motors®, an AVIC International company, is a vertically integrated manufacturer of piston aircraft engines with over 100 years of continuous operation. The company designs, certifies, manufactures, and distributes a range of gasoline and Diesel aviation engines worldwide.
Continental Motors® has been a recognized world leader in the development of aviation products. From the Piper Cub to the setting of altitude world records for manned piston aircraft, Continental Motors® has led the way, bringing many technological innovations to GA and becoming the engine supplier to the most prestigious aircraft manufacturers.
Continental was first to introduce the horizontally opposed cylinder engine configuration, fuel injection and turbo-charging in general aviation aircraft. Continental Motors again delivered cutting edge technology with the first certified Full Authority Digital Engine Controller (FADEC) and service system to piston-powered general aviation aircraft.
Continental Motors® offers a range of Diesel engines from 135 hp. up to 300 hp. Over 5,000 engines have been delivered and have accumulated over 5.25 million flight hours.
Continental Motors® invests over 4% of its revenue in R&D, with engineering departments located in the USA and Germany. The company doesn’t only focus on engine blocks but also on fuel delivery systems, ignition systems and FADEC’s.
To have total control over production and product quality, Continental has developed a unique vertically integrated manufacturing process. Most of the manufacturing process is kept in-house, using technology and processes originally developed by the automotive industry, such as lean manufacturing and constant quality monitoring. Continental Motors® has recently announced that it would build a brand-new factory in Mobile, Alabama, to bring its manufacturing capacities to the next century. The new facility will be nearly 225,000 square feet (21,000 m2) with the majority being dedicated to advanced engine and parts manufacturing. The facility will be populated with brand new manufacturing equipment. When completed, Continental will have two ultra-modern manufacturing plants located in the USA and Germany.
Continental Motors® also makes available a full range of services to general aviation aircraft owners and operators. Continental Motors Services™ offer airframe and engine MRO services at its Fairhope, Alabama, location. Situated on the H.L. Sonny Callahan Airport (KCQF), in a modern new facility, CMS offers airframe maintenance and repair services, piston engine overhauls and repairs, avionics services (sales, installation, bench repair of legacy avionics, RVSM compliance, and certification), new customized interiors fabrication and refurbishment.
Continental Motors Services™, through its Miami, Florida, based subsidiary, United Turbine, provides MRO services and part sales for PT6 operators. United Turbine offers a unique and industry leading warranty on its PT6 overhauls (7 years or TBO, whichever comes first). A loaner/lease program is also available.

- Continental's aircraft piston engine leadership stretches from the A-70 radial engine, which established a new level of smoothness and reliability, to the engines for the Voyager aircraft, which successfully circumnavigated the globe without refuelling.

- Continental Motors is developing a new state-of-the-art building -- designed to support lean manufacturing, engineering, and office systems. - Piper Aircraft Inc. has selected its new CD-170 compression ignition engine fueled with Jet A and available in standard or counter rotating versions to power the Piper PA-44 Seminole. The trainer will be available with Jet-A counter rotating engines, giving flight schools and training organizations a, single lever, FADEC training system with an history of innovation, simplicity and economy.
- Continental® Motors produces four series of gasoline engines, designed to meet the power and performance requirements of every GA pilot. Ranging from 95 HP to 375 HP, our gasoline engines are built in-house from parts we manufacture on site.
- Continental® Motors Jet-A engines are world-class benchmarks in General Aviation, with over 5.5 million flight hours logged andmore than 5,500 engines delivered in the field. These advanced diesel engines operate on universally-available aviation fuel kerosene (Jet Fuel, Jet-A and other certified aviation Jet fuels). Each is certified to the requirements of FAA, EASA and a further 78 countries. New CD-135 and CD-155 engines (after December 1st 2015) are now rated to a TBR of 2,100 hours.
- We offer a comprehensive range of cylinders (fully equipped) for Lycoming®* and Titan™ Engines. We also offer the option of Nickel Silicon Carbide NiC3™ coating. This provides corrosion resistance, exceptional wear resistance, increased strength, and a warranty extension of five years or TBO (whichever comes first) against corrosion and abnormal wear.
- Continental Motors, as an OEM manufacturer, offers a full range of FAA certified PMA parts. The Continental Prime™ family of products is specifically designed for LYCOMING®* engines and is manufactured in our modern manufacturing sites to the same exacting standards used for our parts.
- Since 1904, Continental® Motors has been manufacturing cylinders for its engines. Building technical and engineering expertise year over year, Continental® now offers cylinder kits for three main engine brands in general aviation: Continental® Motors, Continental Titan™ experimental engines, and LYCOMING®* engines.
