Night Flight Concepts Also Installed Cockpit Lighting STC In
School's R44 Helicopters
Night Flight Concepts (NFC) traveled to Hawaii in May to
provide night vision goggle training to Mauna Loa Helicopters
(MLH). The FAA-Approved Part 141 helicopter flight school with
locations on three of the Hawaiian Islands, is one of only three
schools nation-wide to hold an ACCSC (Accrediting Commission of
Career Schools and Colleges) designation. Mauna Loa Helicopters
also specializes in spectacular tour packages.
Night Flight Concepts spent ten days in Kona, Hawaii, Mauna
Loa's base of operations. Training was conducted with MLH
instructor pilots, introducing Night Vision Goggle use to the
previously daylight-only operation. Flight training was conducted
using the Robinson R44 by Adam Aldous, NFC president. "The MLH
instructor pilots did exceptionally well during their training. NFC
is proud to be associated with Mauna Loa Helicopters as an
alignment partner supporting NVG training programs."
"The alignment with Mauna Loa Helicopters for NVG training
further demonstrates NFC's dedication to meeting the needs of the
worldwide helicopter community," said Randy Rowles, NFC chief
flight instructor.
Currently, NFC maintains a similar relationship with Palm
Beach Helicopter's (PBH), a longtime FAA Approved Part 141 pilot
school in Florida. NFC established PBH as their Southeast US NVG
training location. "A pilot attending an NFC NVG course in Hawaii
will receive the same highly standardized NVG program as a student
attending in Florida".
Ben Fouts, owner of Mauna Loa Helicopters commented "Mauna Loa
is proud to be affiliated with Night Flight Concepts for our NVG
training programs." The training provided by Night Flight Concepts
will expand the menu of services offered by Mauna Loa Helicopters
to its client base.
In addition to the NVG pilot training, NFC completed an STC
cockpit lighting installation on a Robinson R44 helicopter. "The
R44 provides a fantastic NVG platform due to its relatively
unlimited viewing area or Field-of-Regard. It's fast, and does
quite well with all of the environmental opportunities available in
Hawaii", stated Rowles.
