Charter Company Gets FAA Approval For Eclipse 500 Single Pilot Operation

North American Jet Charters Operates 10 Eclipse 500 Jets

North American Jet Charter Group (NAJet) announced Monday that it has received FAA Part 135 charter approval for operation of its fleet of Eclipse 500 Very Light Jets in a single-pilot charter configuration, the first company to do so.

The ability to operate the Eclipse 500 VLJ single pilot in commercial charter operations was made possible by the delivery of fully upgraded Eclipse 500 aircraft from the new Eclipse Aerospace company. The Eclipse is now certified and approved for Flight into Known Icing conditions. In addition, the AvioNG system, exclusive to the Eclipse 500 VLJ, provides the aircraft with centralized control of virtually all Eclipse 500 systems and avionics functions. AvioNG comes complete with ILS and GPS-coupled autopilot functions that significantly reduce pilot workloads by simplifying tasks, generating useful information and acting as a virtual copilot.

“The cost to operate commercial charter flights is now reduced with the single pilot certification. In addition the safety of the aircraft is enhanced with the additional integrated autopilot, GPS and navigation systems,” said Jud Wooddy, Managing Member of NAJet charter.

With a fleet of 10 aircraft and growing in multiple cities, NAJet expects to add additional Eclipse Jets to their fleet as they are made available through the upgrade and refurbishment program of Eclipse Aerospace. It is anticipated that other commercial charter operators will also continue to introduce Eclipse Jets into their fleet as private jet customers look for more economical jet travel options.

Matt Dillon, Director of Sales for NAJet stated, “Seventy percent of commercial charter operations have a passenger load of three people or less and a one-way travel distance of less than 750 miles. This is where the Eclipse 500 shines as its low operating costs allows us to provide our charter clients with pricing at a fraction of twin propeller aircraft or larger jets.”

The Eclipse 500 will be displayed at this year’s Masters event in Augusta Georgia currently schedule for April 4-11 at Bush field.
