AD: Fokker Services B.V. Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2018-19-03

PRODUCT: Certain Fokker Services B.V. Model F28 Mark 0070 and 0100 airplanes.

ACTION: Final Rule.

SUMMARY: This AD was prompted by a report of cracks, in various directions, in the lower portion of a main landing gear (MLG) piston.

This AD requires a detailed visual inspection of the MLG, and replacement if necessary.

DATES: This AD is effective October 22, 2018.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD affects 5 airplanes of U.S. registry. The cost of compliance is estimated as follows:

Detailed visual inspection - 3 work-hours × $85 per hour = $255 per aircraft.
Reporting 1 work-hour × $85 per hour = $85 per aircraft.
MLG Replacement (if necessary) - 12 work-hours × $85 per hour = $1,020. Parts - $95,000. Total cost per aircraft - $96,020.
