Nearly 80 Percent Of Ballots Cast Were In Favor Of The
Pact
Pilots for Canadian North (CNP)
have successfully ratified a tentative agreement, with nearly 80
percent of those who cast ballots voting in favor of the pact. In a
news release, ALPA says the deal reflects advances in employment
protection for long-term job stability, increases in per diem and
pay rate, and quality-of-life improvements. Capt. Chris Kampen, CNP
MEC chairman, credits the dedication of the Canadian North pilots
and the experience and leadership of ALPA as crucial in finalizing
this agreement.
The successful ratification by CNP represents the culmination of
over two years of hard work at the negotiating table. The MEC
strongly believes the TA reflects the goals of the pilot group. The
newly ratified TA is their first collective agreement as ALPA
members.
“I want to congratulate the Canadian North flight
crewmembers for demonstrating an unwavering dedication toward
accomplishing their contract goals,” said Capt. Lee Moak,
ALPA’s president. “The pilots are well positioned to
implement their newly ratified contract with the full support,
resources, and voice of the world’s most powerful pilot
union.”
Earlier this year, ALPA’s Executive Board ratified a
merger with Canadian North Pilots Association, making Canadian
North the ninth pilot group in Canada to join ALPA. The 108 flight
crewmembers of Canadian North overwhelmingly voted in support of
the merger, which became effective on May 1. In addition to
ALPA’s U.S. pilot groups, the pilots of Canadian North join
Air Transat, Bearskin Airlines, Calm Air, CanJet, First Air, Jazz,
Kelowna Flightcraft, and Wasaya Airways in choosing ALPA
representation.
