Textron Aviation Delivers First SkyCourier Off The Production Line to FedEx
Earlier today, on 9 May 2022, Textron Aviation celebrated the delivery of its first Cessna SkyCourier to Federal Express (FedEx). The SkyCourier is a high-wing twin-engine utility turbo-prop aircraft, and is expected to be the first of 50 such aircraft for which FedEx will take delivery. Earlier in March 2022, Textron aviation received FAA certification for this new aircraft that was design and manufactured by them.

Elixir Aircraft announced a few updates at this year's Aero, ranging from coveted CS-23 certification, to a new trim level boasting a Rotax 915iS Turbo. ACR Group Adds Blue Sky Network To Its Stable Of Offerings
ACR Group Corporation (ACR Group) perhaps best known to General Aviation folks for its personal locator beacons (PLB’s) and Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELT’s), recently announced on 9 May 2022 that it acquired Blue Sky Network, an Iridium Satellite Connectivity Solutions firm. ACR Group, founded in 1993 has a long history, over 60 years, of ‘saving lives’ through its product line of PLB’s and other safety products for use in emergency situations. ACR has evolved over the years, integrating complementary companies (and their products) into its lineup, and the addition of Blue Sky Network is yet another.

Autel Robotics Releases Software and Firmware Updates for App and EVO Drones
Autel Robotics on 9 May 2022 announced the availability of software updates for its EVO series of drones, specifically the Nano and Lite editions, as well as a software update for its Autel Sky App. For the Evo Lite, the promise of new features and other improvements include: Dynamic Tracking Support which apparently ‘keeps a person in frame’ like a personal watchman, think ‘selfie-in-motion’ and has several modes for ‘smart following’ and ‘object avoidance.’
Airlines Rampant Delays and Passenger Bumping in India and U.K.
Apparently, several Indian airlines have been denying passengers from boarding, even when passengers were on time. Subsequently, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DCGA) has urged that the airlines provide appropriate compensation/make amends to passengers who have been bumped from flights, or face “strict action” and possibly “financial penalties as per regulations.”
At An Altitude Of About 50 Ft Above Ground Level, The Engine Stopped
On March 13, 2022, at 1500 eastern daylight time, an experimental, amateur-built Aircraft Designs Inc. Stallion airplane, N262KT, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident in Ridgeland, South Carolina. The pilot was not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 flight test flight. The pilot reported that the accident flight was the airplane’s 5th flight during phase 1 flight testing for the experimental amateur-built airworthiness certificate.
AD 2022-10-05 Prompted By Reports Of Two Landing Incidents In Which The Alpha Limiter Engaged In The Landing Flare
The FAA is superseding Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2020-05-12, which applied to all Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation Model GVII-G500 and GVII-G600 airplanes. AD 2020-05-12 required revising the existing airplane flight manual (AFM) to incorporate revised limitations and procedures. This AD was prompted by reports of two landing incidents in which the alpha limiter engaged in the landing flare in unstable air, resulting in high rate of descent landings and damage to the airplanes. An unplanned abortive maneuver initiated by the pilot in command (PIC) as a result of onboard cockpit systems. Wind shear escapes are characterized by maximum thrust climbs in the low altitude terminal environment until wind shear conditions are no longer detected.
