Airmen of the 432d Air Expeditionary Wing at Creech Air Force
Base, Nevada made history February 18, when an aircrew flew the

In a time of seemingly endless attacks against private and
corporate aviation, it's nice to know there are some outside the
industry who apparently believe bizav is getting a raw deal in the
court of public opinion, and before Congress.
Friends and colleagues of Peter "Pip" Borrman will remember him
as one of Australia's most accomplished aerobatic pilots. Borrman,

As the era of clean, safe, and affordable access to space dawns,
the pioneers at Virgin Galactic and Scaled Composites have again
chosen EAA AirVenture Oshkosh as the stage for unveiling their
innovations. Assuming that Scaled completes its initial flight test
program on schedule, space launch vehicle Virgin Mothership (VMS)

What started as an ambitious plan to expand operations at Los
Angeles Palmdale Regional Airport (PMD) appears now to be on the
fast track towards becoming a massive solar energy complex
instead.

Pitches Design Capabilities, Tooling For Outside Interests
With the current economic downturn wrecking havoc on sales of
small general aviation piston aircraft, manufacturers are looking
towards new areas to bolster revenues. On Tuesday, Liberty
Aerospace announed the formation of a new Division, Liberty
Composites, to market the company's experience in aviation carbon
fiber structures to other industries... both inside and outside the
aerospace field.

The National Transportation Safety Board is sending a team of
investigators to Amsterdam's Schiphol International
Airport, to assist in the investigation of a B737-800 (T-CJGE)
Turkish Airlines flight 1951, inbound from Istanbul, that crashed

New Survey Proves Space Exploration Still Important -- Nearly 9
Out Of 10 Americans See Value
Despite the tough economic climate in the U.S., almost 90
percent of Americans see value in the U.S. space program. This
finding is part of the results of a survey commissioned by the
Coalition for Space Exploration, proving that space is still very
important to the American people.

ANN's Final Program On The Development and Certification of the Cirrus FIKI System
As previously detailed, ANN had exclusive and unprecedented access to the Cirrus Aircraft team that created GA's latest FIKI certified airframe. It was a fascinating process... to look into and through ALL aspects of the design, manufacture, testing and certification of the 'Known Ice" version of the SR-22. We learned a lot and came away impressed, educated, and enthused by the prospects of these capabilities for all such airframes that make the grade of earning FIKI certification... a process that the FAA does not undertake lightly.

ANN E-I-C Note: Our good friend (indeed,
aviation's good friend) Max Trescott is up in arms over the TSA
LASP cluster#$%^/mess/proposal/you name it and he doesn't
sitting idly by while the TSA continues to make a mockery of this
embattled process we've come to know as DEMOCRACY.

Sikorsky Aircraft has been basking in a fair amount of attention
at Heli-Expo 2009... and giving some back, as well. As the event
closed, they recognized Helijet International Inc. for achieving an
accident-free 140,000 fleet hour milestone with its S-76A
helicopters.
The FAA has made a statement today before a House
Committee that seems, at best, to be looking to gain a few more
headlines in the wake of the successful USAir ditching in the
Hudson River last month. The FAA sent its new FAA Admin For
Aviation Safety, Peggy Gilligan, a career FAA bureaucrat with an
interesting history of industry 'run-ins'...
Strap on a Paramotor and join these amazing people who run into

"We at Aero-News are totally opposed to a program that
will cost pilots $1.9 billion, but for which the TSA cannot
quantify the benefits. We're also concerned that while the proposed
program includes aircraft as small as 12,500 pounds, it's
conceivable that the TSA might expand the program in the future to
cover all aircraft. We're all for having security and freedom.
However this program seems to provide no increase in security while
greatly decreasing the utility of aircraft to fly freely where and
when they want. Please let your elected representatives know how
you feel!"
