Goodrich Corporation recently received production contracts from Lockheed Martin and General Electric Aircraft Engines (GEAE) to supply pylons and nacelle systems for the US Air Force C-5 Galaxy strategic airlifter Reliability Enhancement and Re-engining Program (RERP).

NASA and Alliant Techsystems reached another milestone Friday with the successful test firing of a critical safety component for the next-generation Orion crew exploration vehicle. A 36-inch-long igniter for the abort motor of Orion's launch abort system was fired at ATK's facility in Promontory, UT.

The bleeding continues for the North American airline industry. Air Canada plans to cut up to 2,000 jobs from its ranks by the end of 2008, as the carrier slashes capacity to cope with the slumping economy and record high fuel costs.

Lays Off 80 Workers, Cuts Production Rates

Blame the following on the slumping economy... and it may be a sign of things to come. Mooney Airplane Company announced Tuesday morning it has slowed production rates for its aircraft for the rest of 2008, and laid off a sizable percentage of its workforce.
