Sporty's Founder Inducted Into Flight Instructors Hall of Fame

Hal Shevers Began Instructing In 1961

Hal Shevers, Sporty’s founder and chairman, was inducted into the National Association of Flight Instructors Hall of Fame on Friday, November 9 at a dinner and program held in the Eagle Hangar of the EAA AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh, WI.

As an instrument flight instructor since 1961, Shevers was recognized for his pioneering work establishing three-day ground schools as well as his life-long commitment to providing quality aviation educational materials for pilots of all experience levels.

Shevers was recognized by EAA President Tom Poberezny as well as by Phil Poyner, Chairman of the National Association of Flight Instructors and faculty member at Daniel Webster College.

In his remarks, Shevers spoke fondly of his career and of his desire to continue to produce the best possible training materials for the general aviation community.

"Words can’t really describe how I feel about this honor so I’ll just say thank you, thank you, thank you," Shevers concluded.

The Flight Instructor Hall of Fame was created to recognize those individuals who have made significant regional or national-level contributions to aviation education and flight instruction while reflecting credit upon themselves and their profession.
