ANN FAQ: ANN Is On The A.I.R.

ANN Introduces Aero-News Internet Radio

We unveiled a new and exiting addition to the Aero-News lineup in July 2006, during the annual excitement known as the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Fly-In. In addition to the highly-acclaimed Aero-Casting products ANN introduced in 2005, Aero-News has unveiled a full-time (24/7) Internet radio feed that will feature all of ANN's most current news products as well as current and archived news features of interest to flyers all over cyber-space.

While our Aero-Casting products and programs are a big hit, we felt that there was a solid market and audience for an "always-on" programming venue... one that tuned the average PC into an extension of ANN's vast information services.

For the moment, we're going to program a series of scripts that will offer up the latest news, the latest features and a few older but recently aired features to produce a program segment of several hours duration. Each program will repeat once it has run its course while the day's program will be updated as new segments are introduced each day.

ANN's AIR, taking advantage of the well-proven 'Live365' webcasting interface, offers a number of listening formats, accommodating a diverse range of PC users...

To listen to an AIR broadcast, you must have an audio player installed. This can be done in two simple steps.

  • First, check to make sure your PC meets the minimum system requirements:
    • Windows 9X, NT, ME, 2000, XP or higher
    • 300mhz or better processor
    • Microsoft IE 5 and higher (Other browsers may work but are not supported.)
  • Then... Download the ANN-AIR Internet radio player, being careful to authorize its use while noting that you may find it necessary to bypass your 'Pop-Up' filters (by giving permission for our player to offer its audio feed) and similar mechanisms.

By following the download instructions, and installing the player, you now have access to ANN's continuous Aero-News Internet radio programming... which will feature each cycle's most current news products, in addition to the most recent news features and some occasional reviews and looks-back at our extensive archives of exciting aero-feature programming.

While we do recommend the use of the downloadable ANN/Live365player system (which we are increasingly impressed with, in terms of ease of use and dependability), you can listen to AIR using players such as RealPlayer, Winamp, Sonique, MusicMatch, or Windows Media Player. When starting each day's programs, be advised that the system depends on the speed and reliability of your connection and there may be some slight delays in accessing our programming as the initial program downloads and "buffers" to an acceptable level allowing for the most positive listening experience. The buffer in a streaming audio player temporarily stores the last few seconds of your station’s playback. In the event that your network connection slows down or is momentarily disrupted, the station you’re listening to will play back from the buffer until the connection is restored. If the buffer runs out, the audio will begin to skip or possibly drop off completely.

Please also keep mind that ANN, as usual, is pioneering new turf here, and that there may be some tweaks and changes needed as we gain experience with the system to achieve the most dependable result. YOUR feedback will be critical in building our expertise with how this system works for you and how we might develop it into a more useful and powerful resource for the benefit of all those who want the best in online aviation audio news programming... so be sure to let us know what your experiences are like as we bring this new medium to you... every hour of every day.

Remember... YOUR feedback will help us help you STAY informed on all things aeronautical.
