Avidyne Active Traffic Systems Now Available For For G1000-Equipped Birds

TAS600 Provides Active-Surveillance Collision Avoidance Protection for G1000-equipped Cessna, Beechcraft, Diamond and Columbia Aircraft

Avidyne's TAS600 Series of Traffic Advisory Systems (TAS) is now approved and available for retrofit installation in aircraft equipped with the Garmin G1000 integrated flight deck. Owners of G1000-equipped aircraft now have access to the added protection of Avidyne's affordable active surveillance traffic systems.

Avidyne's TAS600 series traffic advisory systems use Ryan Active Surveillance™ technology to provide traffic alerting of other transponder-equipped aircraft. Avidyne's exclusive Heads-Up Audible Position Alerting™ keeps the pilot's attention outside the cockpit scanning for traffic by verbally calling out target bearing, range and relative altitude. The automated voice alert uses the same alert terminology as Air Traffic Control: "Traffic! 12 O'clock! High! Two miles!" Patented small-footprint, top-and-bottom antennas provide improved target acquisition and tracking compared to single-antenna systems.

The TAS600 series consists of three systems suitable for a wide range of aircraft:

  • TAS600 with a 7nm range - recommended for single-engine piston aircraft and priced at $9,990
  • TAS610 with a 12nm range - recommended for high-performance piston aircraft and priced at $14,990.
  • TAS620 with a 21nm range - recommended for twin-engine and turbine aircraft and priced at $20,990.

"Avidyne continues to open up the market by making the important situational awareness and safety tools of the TAS600 series available for retrofit in virtually any light GA aircraft, including those with G1000 flight decks," said Mark Sandeen, Avidyne vice president of sales and marketing.

"The TAS600 systems are winning over a lot of pilots who want the added benefits of active surveillance, dual antennas and audible position alerting."

"Demand is growing for the TAS600 series because of the value and features that add another layer of safety in flying," said Dan Schwinn, president of Avidyne Corporation.

"The TAS600 systems illustrate our ongoing strategy to expand our presence in all GA cockpits with a growing line of high-performance, high-value avionics products."

The TAS600 series is already available as a factory option on new G1000-equipped Diamond DA40 and DA42 and Columbia 350 and 400 aircraft. The Avidyne TAS600, TAS610, and TAS620 are certified for retrofit.
