Iraqi Comp Air Accident Investigation Ends In Mystery

No Indication Of What Brought Aircraft Down

An Air Force Special Operations investigation into the May 30 crash of a Comp Air 7SL belonging to the Iraqi Air Force has ended -- but investigators still have little idea of what actually brought the plane down.

Evidence found at the scene does not point to a clear cause of the crash, according to the Pentagon. There was no indication of mechanical failure at the scene, nor does it appear the plane was shot down.

As was reported in Aero-News, four US airmen and one member of the Iraqi Air Force were killed when the aircraft went down earlier this year on a survey mission to find remote landing sites.
