NetJets' Wunderlich Named New NATA Environmental Committee Chairman

Replaces Former DayJet Exec Gruen-Kennedy

National Air Transportation Association (NATA) President James K. Coyne announced Tuesday the selection of Eric Wunderlich of NetJets Aviation as chairman of the association’s Environmental Committee. Wunderlich replaces Traver Gruen-Kennedy of now-defunct DayJet.

Wunderlich reports to the NetJets Office of the Chairman and is responsible for planning and directing all aspects of NetJets environmental work in the US, as well as coordinating efforts with colleagues in Europe. Prior to coming to NetJets in February 2008, Wunderlich was a business development manager for the Trulite fuel cell unit of Standard Renewable Energy in Houston, TX.

Wunderlich earned his BA in communications from the University of Michigan and was a member of the 1996 Olympic Swimming Team and a former American and World Record Holder.

The Environmental Committee, approved by the NATA Board of Directors in 2007, is a regular standing committee within the NATA committee structure and meets in conjunction with the association's Air Charter, Aircraft Maintenance and Systems Technology, Airports, Business Management, Flight Training, and Safety and Security Committees.

During its first year of activities, the NATA Environmental Committee has taken on a number of initiatives, including development of the NATA Clear Skies program that provides members with best management practices to minimize energy consumption as well as an energy usage survey to evaluate energy use and costs.

"We are thrilled that Eric has made this commitment to lead our Environmental Committee after a very successful first year of activity under Traver’s leadership," Coyne stated. "NetJets has been at the forefront of the aviation industry addressing environmental matters by investing in new technologies to reduce the carbon footprint of the company’s operations worldwide. I welcome Eric’s guidance, support and leadership on this very important committee, especially as we look towards working with President-elect Obama’s administration and what will likely be a very aggressive environmental agenda in 2009."
