World's Largest Airline To Be Run Largely By Former DAL Execs

Delta Air Lines' CEO Richard Anderson and President Ed Bastian released a memo Friday to its 75,000 employees, announcing extensive restructuring of leadership following the company's recent merger with Northwest Airlines.

Steve Gorman, who joined Delta in December 2007 as executive vice president of Operations, has been appointed to the position of executive vice president and Chief Operating Officer.

Hank Halter, a 10-year veteran of Delta, is being promoted to the post of senior vice president and Chief Financial Officer and will join Delta's Corporate Leadership Team. Tim Mapes is being promoted to senior vice president of Marketing. Ray Winborne is being promoted to senior vice president of Finance and Controller.

Repositioned officers and their new roles include Jim Cron, senior vice president of Global Sales and Distribution; Gail Grimmett, senior vice president in New York; Tom Bach, senior vice president of Revenue Management; Vinay Dube, vice president of Alliances; and Tammy Lee Stanoch, vice president of Corporate Affairs in Minneapolis.

Additional officer-level promotions include Jim Graham, vice president of Flying Operations; James Sarvis, vice president of Airport Customer Service, International; David Watson, vice president of In-Flight Service Business Operations; and Andy Zarras, vice president of Airport Customer Service, Detroit.

Joining the CLT are Mike Becker, executive vice president and Chief Operating Officer of NWA; Mike Campbell, executive vice president of Human Resources and Labor Relations; Glen Hauenstein, executive vice president of Network Planning and Revenue Management; Ben Hirst, senior vice president and General Counsel; Ned Walker, senior vice president and Chief Communications Officer; and Theresa Wise, senior vice president and Chief Information Officer.

With its acquisition of Northwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines is now the world's largest airline. From hubs in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Memphis, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York-JFK, Salt Lake City and Tokyo-Narita, the new Delta offers service on more than 16,000 daily flights to more than 375 destinations worldwide in 66 countries, and serve more than 170 million passengers each year.
