Second FBO Seeks Spot At NWFLA Airport

Santa Rosa County Considers Proposal From Milton Aviation Partners

Commissioners in Santa Rosa county, Florida are looking at a proposal that would place a new FBO at Peter Prince Airport (2R4) in the town of East Milton.

The proposal comes from Milton Aviation Partners (MAP), which hopes to open a second FBO at the airport. Aircraft Management Services currently provides fuel and other services at 24R.

A document drafted by MAP indicated that the current FBO does meet the minimum service level required by the FAA, but that an additional operator would not hurt the airport. The Santa Rosa Press Gazette reports that MAP has asked for a 30 year lease with an option for 15 additional years on renewal.  MAP would also share the costs of maintenance of the airport grounds with the existing FBO.

Commission chair Gordon Goodin expressed some concern that the current operation was enough for the airport, and Commissioner Dan Salter said that a second FBO could draw additional air traffic to the region. He told the representative from MAP that it could be a problem given the airport's proximity to Whiting Field Naval Air Station.

Salter said the county Aviation Advisory Board would have to look at the proposal before the county commission could take any additional action.
