Cessna Flyer/Piper Flyer Associations To Host Its Annual Pre-Oshkosh Gathering

Scheduled For Waupaca Municipal Airport, July 24-26

The Cessna Flyer and Piper Flyer Associations are inviting all Cessna and Piper pilots to fly in to Waupaca Municipal Airport (KPCZ) in Waupaca, Wisconsin for the associations' Annual Gathering. The Gathering will be held the weekend preceding EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, July 24-26, 2009 at the groups' headquarters, better known as "The Blue Hangar."

"This will be the fifth year we've held a fly-in for our members here in Waupaca," explained Trevor Janz, the organization's vice president and co-founder. "It's a casual, fun weekend, but we also want to make it very informative and educational. Giving our members information they can use to get more enjoyment out of their airplanes is our associations' primary goal."

The educational sessions will be held on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The current lineup of presentations includes representatives from GAMI Injectors, Forward Vision infrared technology, and Dr. Bruce Chien, AME.

"Holding the presentations in the mornings gives attendees and their families the afternoons free to enjoy golf packages, spa packages, antiques shopping, fishing, fly-outs or just to relax here at the Blue Hangar," Janz said. "The Gathering is a great time to get to know other members and share experiences. It's hangar flying at its best."

"Landing at Waupaca also gives our members the opportunity to park their airplanes here and take our motor coach into Oshkosh Monday through Wednesday," Janz added. "The attendance fee includes shuttle service to and from the airport and to local hotels."

Registration for this three-day event is the same as last year- just $85. Janz said the registration fee also includes dinner on Friday night and lunch on Saturday and Sunday. Aviation movies with popcorn and beverages will be offered on Friday night. The social highlight of the weekend is a real Wisconsin Brat Fry and Corn Roast on Saturday night. Janz added that discounted rates for hotels and under-wing camping reservations are available. Rental car delivery to Waupaca Airport can also be arranged.

Located just 28 nm northwest of Oshkosh, Waupaca Municipal Airport has lots of paved tiedown space, an FBO with showers and 24-hour fuel.
