Embraer Promotes Defense Offerings At LAAD 2009

Defense, Security Trade Show Now In Its 12th Year

Embraer will participate in the seventh edition of Latin America Aero and Defence (LAAD). This aeronautics and defense trade show takes place April 14 to 17, at RioCentro, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

During the event, the company will promote its entire line of products and services at stand G-49.

"LAAD is an aeronautical trade show that has gained increasing importance for both Embraer and for our customers," said Orlando José Ferreira Neto, Embraer Executive Vice President, Defense and Government Market, who is participating in an aeronautical and defense event for the first time, since taking this position last January. "It is an opportunity to build even closer relationships with the Brazilian Ministry of Defense and the country’s armed forces, as well as many customers, especially those from Latin America. The latest contracts for the Super Tucano – with Chile, the Dominican Republic, and Ecuador – have shown the strategic importance of the region to the Company."

At the stand, Embraer will present to invited guests and customers a concept demonstrator of the Command and Control (C2) system and Modeling and Simulation (M&S). The Company has increasingly invested in its capability, with an eye to the demanding Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems market.

In this context, Embraer has developed the C4ISR solution and supplied surveillance aircraft to the Department of National Defense (Secretaría de Defensa Nacional – SEDENA) of Mexico, which has successfully operated this system, since 2004.

Latin America Aerospace and Defence (LAAD) is the biggest and most important defense and security trade show in Latin America. The biennial event brings together Brazilian and international companies specializing in supplying equipment and services for the three armed Embraer 145 AEW&C jets in operation in Mexico forces, special forces, security services, consultants, and government agencies.

In its 12-year history, LAAD has provided participants with contacts, business, and updated knowledge. In the 2009 edition, the II Defense Seminar and the IV International Symposium on Military Logistics, as well as other activities, will be held.
