Two Lost, One Injured In Oklahoma C210 Accident

Second Fatal Crash Near RVS In Six Weeks

Two passengers onboard a Cessna 210 Centurion were killed, and the pilot critically injured, when their aircraft impacted north of Jones Riverside Airport (RVS) in Tulsa, OK Tuesday evening.

The Associated Press reports the plane had just departed RVS bound for Little Rock, AR when the pilot attempted to return to the airport. The aircraft -- N3NG, a 1977 C210 -- struck a powerline on approach to the airport, according to FAA spokesman Roland Herwig.

The identities of the victims were not released, apart from reports the pilot is a Little Rock police officer and that his wife and father-in-law were onboard the plane, which the pilot purchased from a Montana man 10 days before.

Aircraft broker Dan Howard, whose company handled the sale of the plane, told local media the pilot reported an electrical problem just after takeoff -- specifically, a voltage issue.

The Centurion (file photo of type shown above) hit the power line at approximately 1920 CST, and came to rest inverted near an earthen levee about 100 yards north of the airport.

Tuesday's crash is the second in the metro Tulsa area in six weeks. As ANN reported, five persons died when a Beechcraft A-36 Bonanza crashed October 17 near Glenpool, OK. That aircraft was also attempting to return to RVS for an emergency landing.
