“Diamond Lil” Skids Down Runway, But No Injuries

The B-24 “Diamond Lil” was among three WWII aircraft on display and offering rides at the Carolinas Aviation Museum this weekend. A P-51 fighter and the last airworthy B-29 bomber in the world were also brought in by the Commemorative Air Force, the iconic Texas-based nonprofit group that restores and preserves WWII historical aircraft. The landing gear on the B-24 suffered a malfunction during flight, causing the aircraft to skid down the runway as it landed, officials said. None of the 16 people on board was injured.

Former United Flight Attendant Founded Scholarship Fund

The Captain Jason M. Dahl Scholarship Fund announced on its website that Sandy Dahl died in her sleep Friday from natural causes near Denver. “Her guiding light will be missed,” the group said. Dahl became a public face for 9/11 families by founding the Jason Dahl scholarship fund to provide money for young pilots to receive their education. As of 2011, 16 students had received scholarships and some were already commercial pilots, NBC station KUSA of Denver reported.

Though barely one year into flight testing, Dassault says its newest aircraft, the twin-engine Falcon 2000S, is already demonstrating performance figures substantially higher than the capabilities announced when the program was launched. To date, the test aircraft has accumulated more than 300 flight hours in over 130 flights and opened up the full flight envelope and demonstrated excellent handling qualities.

U.S. Army and Northrop Grumman officials are hopeful that they will be able to successfully fly a huge, unmanned airship over Lakehurst, NJ in the next couple of weeks.

Collision Occurred In Northeast Arkansas

A Grumman G164 and an Air Tractor collided Wednesday, resulting in the fatal injury of one of the two pilots. The Associated Press reports that the accident occurred around 1135 CDT in northeast Arkansas, where both aircraft were engaged in agrucultural spraying activities.  Television station KAIT in Jonesboro reported that Green County Sheriff Dan Langston said the flights had originated from airports in Craighead and Greene counties.

Total Leased And Purchased 787s For The Airline Up To Eight

Norwegian has signed an agreement to lease two additional Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners for its future long-haul operations. The company has previously entered into agreements to purchase three and lease three aircraft of the same type, securing a delivery of a total of eight Dreamliners.
