Cessna 310 Down In California, Three Killed

Aircraft Wing Impacted A Home Day Care Center, All On The Ground Are Fine

A Cessna 310 departing from Palo Alto Airport (KPAO) in the San Francisco Bay Area struck a high-tension transmission pole shortly after takeoff Wednesday morning, crashing into a residential neighborhood. No one on the ground was injured, but all three people on board the plane were killed.

Defends Policy That Cost Him A Standby Seat

Southwest Airlines has responded to Hollywood director Kevin Smith, who was removed from a flight from Oakland to Burbank, CA, after he had boarded and been seated. The airline told Smith he was too large for the single middle seat on the airplane.

A visual maneuver accomplished by a pilot at the completion of an instrument approach to permit a straight-in landing on a parallel runway not more than 1,200 feet to either side of the runway.
