A cutting device used to shape blocks of foam in composite aircraft construction. A wire is stretched tight between the arms of a frame and heated by electrical current. The hot wire melts its way through the foam, creating a very clean cut.

Source: Vincent Giglio, owner of aviation maintenance company First in Flight, based at Monmouth Executive Airport (BLM) near Farmingdale, NJ. The airport fell victim to vandalism sometime late Sunday night or early Sunday morning, in which 11 planes were damaged. The worst violence was inflicted on a Piper Seneca, which had its empennage severed and the right wing partially separated from the engine nacelle... damage that will likely ground the plane permanently.
