Tropical Depression #11 formed near the Windward Islands Monday and is forecast to become Tropical Storm Jeanne Tuesday. T.D. #11 is moving northwest at 12 mph with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph. A deep burst of convection is currently over the center of the system and the depression is expected to become a Tropical Storm at any time.

HR Textron Gets JSF Contract

HR Textron, based in Santa Clarita (CA) says it's been awarded a contract from Hamilton Sundstrand to provide Dual Vane Pump Servovalves to F135 Engine for the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. Hamilton Sundstrand is a key member of the Pratt & Whitney (P&W)-led F135 Development Team and is responsible for providing the controls and the gearbox to the F135. This program covers the System Design and Development (SDD) phase from 2004 to 2007, with an option for the production phase estimated at $29 million over 24 years. The first prototype unit delivery is planned for November 2004.

Nearly half of all international business fliers would prefer to travel on airlines that allow the use of mobile phones in flight. That is the emphatic conclusion from a survey of 1,200 international business and leisure travelers at two of the world’s busiest airports—London Heathrow and Gatwick. The research was conducted for Telenor and ARINC.
