Aeromedix to Distribute PocketPlates

Anywhere Map's Idea Catching On, Everywhere

Control Vision Corp., makers of PocketPlates™ and the Anywhere Map line of moving map GPS systems, has added Aeromedix.com LLC to its family of dealers. Aeromedix.com, well-known for its line of aviation medical products including blood oxygen monitoring systems and air-sickness relief bands, plans to begin reselling the newly-introduced product within a few days.

PocketPlates was introduced by Control Vision to an enthusiastic audience at this year's Sun 'n Fun show. The product received an enthusiastic reception, as it delivers up-to-date FAA-certified approach plates to the screen of a PDA such as Compaq's iPAQ. (A PC-based component of the product prints out hard copies of the plates placing current paper TERPs in the hands of the pilot.)

Version 2 Will Really Knock Socks Off

Version 1 of PocketPlates makes over 11,000 approaches and airport diagrams available where they can be stored a single Compact Flash or SecureDigital storage card. Version 2, expected before Oshkosh, takes the technology a step farther. Pilots can "calibrate" any plate, transforming the plate into a moving map reflecting actual GPS position during the course of the approach.

"Of all the new products introduced at Sun 'n Fun, PocketPlates was one of the most intriguing," said Dr. Brent Blue, Managing Member of Aeromedix.com. "Being able to store the entire US approach library on a computer answers a longstanding need of IFR pilots for a convenient and practical way of carrying SIAPs. That alone would make a compelling product. But of course, Control Vision goes a giant step farther. At Aeromedix.com we're primarily concerned with safety, and in our opinion, showing an aircraft's current position on a real approach plate is a true quantum leap that will make sense to thousands of IFR pilots. What's more," said Dr. Blue, "it is far less expensive than Jeppesen [plates] while fulfilling the legal requirements for current charts."

"We're very happy to be working with Aeromedix.com," said Control Vision CEO and president Jay Humbard. "Their reputation in offering only the finest products to pilots is well-earned and we're pleased that they see the importance of PocketPlates."

With PocketPlates, pilots save on the purchase of approach books, on savings in space and they avoid the semi-monthly ritual of discarding obsolete approaches. PocketPlates are updated online every 28 days simply by logging into the plates' site.
