Building New Terminal, Hangar, And Fuel Farm
The Lee County Port Authority,
Board of Port Commissioners, county officials, business leaders and
other community representatives gathered last week for a
groundbreaking ceremony for the new General Aviation Complex at
Page Field General Aviation Airport (KFMY) in Fort Myers, FL.
Once completed, the new General Aviation Terminal will replace
the existing facility and will be located in the West Quadrant of
Page Field. The new complex includes a two-story 22,613-square-foot
terminal building, a 24,000-square-foot multi-use hangar, a new
Fuel Farm with jet and AvGas fuel, intersection improvements at
Fowler Street and Page Field Commons, a parking lot, new entrance
roadway and native landscaping that will enhance the buildings and
surroundings.
The estimated total economic impact will be $28 million and
construction activities alone will support 300 jobs. The total
project cost is $16.2 million and has a planned 401-day
construction schedule.
“Business at Page continues to grow with nearly 76,000
annual operations and according to a 2009 Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT) Economic Impact Report, Page Field accounts
for nearly 1,000 jobs and contributes $95.4 million to the local
economy,” said Robert M. Ball, A.A.E., executive director of
the Lee County Port Authority. “The infrastructure
improvements ... at Page Field will help us meet the future demand
of general aviation in Southwest Florida.”
Page Field General Aviation Airport is an important part of the
transportation system in Southwest Florida. KFMY serves as the
general aviation gateway to Lee County and is a designated FAA
reliever airport for Southwest Florida International Airport
(RSW).
