Eurocopter To Acquire Motorflug Baden-Baden GmbH

German Business Will Expand Helomaker's MRO Capabilities

Earlier this week Eurocopter Deutschland GmbH signed an agreement to acquire Motorflug Baden-Baden GmbH, a German company specializing in helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) work.

With bases in Baden-Baden, Rheinmünster and Schönhagen, Motorflug will become an integral part of Eurocopter's service and support business and will complement its existing maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities in the civil helicopter market. The acquisition of Motorflug will enable Eurocopter to offer even more comprehensive services to its customers while assuring the flexibility and reactivity its customers need.

"I am pleased to welcome Motorflug to our Eurocopter family. We have identified the service area as one of our strategic axes of growth," said Lutz Bertling, CEO of Eurocopter. "Motorflug with its broad spectrum of service capabilities fits perfectly into our portfolio and is a valuable complement to the existing MRO capabilities of our group."

Motorflug was founded in 1955 as the first service provider for helicopters in Germany. In its three German facilities, it offers a wide spectrum of services covering helicopter airframes, engines, components, instruments and avionics.

Eurocopter bills the acquisition as the continuation of an over 30-year history of successful cooperation that began in 1976, when Motorflug was approved as authorized service center for MBB. This was soon followed by the approval as service center for Aerospatiale’s models in 1984.

In its over 50-year long history, Motorflug has provided services on helicopters of numerous major brands. It is Eurocopter’s intention to continue to provide the same first-class service to all of Motorflug’s customers in the future.
