Aero-Terms!
Aero-Terms are designed to be a daily reminder of the terms,
names, acronyms and explanations of the unique language that
populates the aviation world. Aerospace, sport aviation, fixed
wing, helo, you name it... it's all fair game.
Aero-Terms should serve as a quick but intriguing reminder of
the terms you may use every day, or an introduction to an aspects
of the Aero-World you may not yet be familiar with. ANN also
encourages readers to go beyond the FMI link, and further research
any intriguing terms.
Suggestions for future Aero-Terms are ALWAYS
welcome, as are additions or discussion of the
explanations given for each Aero-Term.
Radar Service
Terminated
Used by ATC to inform a pilot that he/she will no longer be
provided any of the services that could be received while in radar
contact. Radar service is automatically terminated, and the pilot
is not advised in the following cases:
- An aircraft cancels its IFR flight plan, except within Class B
airspace, Class C airspace, a TRSA, or where Basic Radar service is
provided.
- An aircraft conducting an instrument, visual, or contact
approach has landed or has been instructed to change to advisory
frequency.
- An arriving VFR aircraft, receiving radar service to a
tower-controlled airport within Class B airspace, Class C airspace,
a TRSA, or where sequencing service is provided, has landed; or to
all other airports, is instructed to change to tower or advisory
frequency.
- An aircraft completes a radar approach.
