AD: Boeing Company Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2012-05-03

PRODUCT: Certain The Boeing Company Model 747-100, 747-100B, 747-100B SUD, 747-200B, 747-200C, 747-200F, 747-300, 747-400, 747-400D, 747-400F, 747SR, and 747SP series airplanes.
SUBJECT: Airworthiness Directive 2012-05-03

SUMMARY: The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain The Boeing Company Model 747-100, 747-100B, 747-100B SUD, 747-200B, 747-200C, 747-200F, 747-300, 747-400, 747-400D, 747-400F, 747SR, and 747SP series airplanes. This AD was prompted by a design review following a ground fire incident and reports of flammable fluid leaks from the wing leading edge area onto the engine exhaust area. This AD requires modifying the fluid drain path in the leading edge area of the wing. The FAA is issuing this AD to prevent flammable fluid from leaking onto the engine exhaust nozzle, which could result in a fire.

DATES: This AD is effective April 24, 2012.
