Will Upgrade Avionics In Beechjet 400A And Hawker 400XP
Garmin will expand its portfolio of flight deck upgrades to include a G5000 modernization program for the popular Beechjet 400A and Hawker 400XP. The STC certification is targeted for approval in 2015 and will be available from select Garmin dealers.
“G5000 is the ideal solution for Beechjet 400A and Hawker 400XP operators,” said Carl Wolf, Garmin’s vice president of aviation sales and marketing, in a news release Wednesday. “This upgrade offers existing owners and operators a chance to breathe new life into the aircraft they love with industry leading situational awareness tools, safety enhancements, and NextGen capabilities. And they get all this in addition to an estimated 200 pound useful load increase.”
The Garmin G5000 flight deck for the Beechjet 400A and Hawker 400XP will feature three high-resolution 12-inch flight displays, along with two touch screen display/controllers that serve as the primary crew interface for the system. The landscape oriented flight displays have multi-pane capability that allows multiple pages to be viewed side-by-side on any of the screens. Therefore, pilots can simultaneously view maps, charts, checklists, TAWS, TCAS, flight plans, weather, video input and more. The G5000 system also features Garmin’s advanced autopilot, PBN/RNP 0.3 with LPV/APV approach capability, doppler weather radar and options for Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT), ADS-B, as well as Garmin TAS or TCAS I/II traffic solutions, offering pilots the finest in situational awareness and simplicity. Furthermore, the new Beechjet 400A and Hawker 400XP flight deck is estimated to provide a weight savings of 200 pounds, allowing owners and operators the option to carry an additional passenger with the
same fuel load.
The G5000 installation on the Beechjet 400A and Hawker 400XP includes a fully digital, dual channel, fail passive automatic flight control system (AFCS). It includes coupled wide area augmentation system (WAAS/SBAS) approaches, vertical navigation, and flight level change (FLC) capability. The system features TAWS-B alerting as standard with optional TAWS-A, as well as geo-referenced Garmin FliteCharts and Garmin SafeTaxi which displays the location of runways, taxiways, FBOs, and hangars. The upgrade will also support Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) operations.
The new Beechjet 400A and Hawker 400XP G5000 flight deck will feature Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT) as an option, which presents 3D depictions of virtual terrain, obstacles, traffic and the runway environment so that the image on the display replicates what pilots would see outside the cockpit on a clear day. SVT works seamlessly to alert pilots of potential ground hazards by displaying terrain and obstacles which pose a threat to the aircraft with appropriate TAWS alert coloring, as well as voice alerts.
The G5000 flight deck will be supported by Garmin’s award-winning aviation support team that provides 24/7 worldwide technical and warranty support.
