Snow Causes Even More Grief At Heathrow's T5

Terminal Born Under A Bad Sign?

They've had to deal with lost luggage, employee fistfights, and even disgruntled supermodels... and, now, Mother Nature is causing British Airways her own share of grief, regarding the airline's new, ultra-troublesome Terminal Five at London Heathrow.

The British flag carrier was forced to cancel 126 flights Sunday, reports The Associated Press, after heavy snow conspired with continuing baggage routing difficulties to snarl travel out of the state=of-the-art terminal.

As ANN has reported, the meltdown at T5 began March 27, when passengers unfortunate enough to be flying out of the brand new terminal started to experience delays, frustrations, and flight cancellations as a result of systems troubles at the BA new flagship terminal. Hundreds of flights have been cancelled in the 10 days since, as the carrier struggled to regain its operational footing.

According to media reports, luggage woes have contributed to at least two physical confrontations at T5 -- one involving BA employees, the other Naomi Campbell -- the notorious, hot-headed supermodel -- who reportedly spat at a police officer Friday when told she'd have to get off the plane she expected to fly to Los Angeles, because one of her bags had been lost.

Officials at British Airways and Heathrow continue to say they're working on the problems. At this rate, however, it would appear the only way Terminal Five could be more cursed, was if Alitalia announced new service there...
