Bell Helicopter has provided an update on the 429 helicopter
program and expected certification date. Bob Fitzpatrick, senior
vice president of Business Development and Commercial Programs
stated, "We continue to make great progress on the 429 program and
expect it to be certified by the end of this month with customer
deliveries beginning shortly after certification."

Local 218 of The United Auto Workers, the union
representing manufacturing workers at Bell Helicopter in Hurst,
Texas, rejected the company's last, best offer for a three-year
contract and went on strike at midnight Sunday.
Doha-based national carrier, Qatar Airways, has
signed a firm contract for 24 Airbus A320 Family aircraft. The
agreement includes the firming up of a contract for four A321
aircraft announced at the Farnborough Air show in July 2008.
The NTSB has released its probable cause report
for a mid-air collision in January, 2008 which killed four people
in two aircraft and one on the ground. The incident, which happened
January 20th of last year, involved a Cessna 150, piloted by
24-year-old Anthony Guzman, and a Cessna 172, flown by
73-year-old Paul Carson.
Embraer and KLM Cityhopper, KLM’s regional subsidiary,
signed a contract for another seven Embraer 190 jets, confirming
the options in the original contract, announced in August 2007. The
Dutch airline still has 11 options to buy Embraer jets. The initial
deliveries of this new order should take place during the
first semester of 2010.
Looking For A Rematch With Northrop Grumman On Refueling
After successfully protesting the award of a contract for aerial
refueling tankers based on an Airbus platform to Northrop Grumman,
Boeing is proposing a tanker design using either its 767 or 777
airframes when bids are re-opened next week.
An RAF pilot and a British military cadet were
killed Sunday when their two place Grob Tutor collided with a
civilian glider in flight. Both aircraft fell to the ground, but
the pilot of the glider managed to parachute safely following the
Britain's Paul Bonhomme soared to victory in
the Red Bull Air Race World Championship on Sunday with a thrilling
win over rival Hannes Arch of Austria in Windsor, Ontario. It was
