Lockheed Martin announced Tuesday the government has awarded the
Bethesda, MD-based company a nearly $100 million contract for
long-lead tasks related to the production of 30 new Advanced Block
52+ aircraft for Greece.
The US Air Force's RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned aerial
reconnaissance system recently passed the 5,000 combat flight-hours
mark while on a mission supporting the global war on terrorism,
according to the aircrafts' manufacturer, Northrop Grumman.

A little bit of luck -- in the form of unusually calm waters,

the survival of two men whose Piper PA-28 Warrior went down Monday

Accurately flying an IFR approach is all about... just
that, flying the airplane. Especially as you get closer to your
destination (and to the ground) proper pitch, heading, and
airspeed control is crucial --- and too often, pilots are most

To help general aviation pilots understand the complexities of
today's stricter airspace rules and reduce violations of restricted
airspace, the FAA is offering special online training for anyone
who flies in or near restricted areas -- especially a certain area
around Washington, DC.
In an unusual observation, a team of scientists has scanned the
northern polar region of Earth with NASA's Chandra X-ray
Observatory. The results show that the aurora borealis, or
"northern lights," also dance in X-ray light, creating changing
bright arcs of X-ray energy above the Earth's surface.
Air Transportation Gallery Closing January 9 For New Exhibition

Museum’s flagship building on the National Mall in Washington
will close on Jan. 9, 2006, in preparation for a new exhibition the
