Authorities in Greenville (KY) are on alert following the theft
of a fuel truck containing between 1,400 and 2,000 gallons of
highly flammable Jet-A from the Muhlenberg County Airport (M21)
sometime Thursday night.
Despite pleas from supporters hoping to keep Otis National Guard
Base open, it perhaps isn't surprising that the Base Realignment
And Closure Commission agreed Friday with the Pentagon's
recommendation to close the Cape Cod (MA) facility.
Not for the first time, opponent pleas for more time to review
plans affecting a Chicago airport have been rejected. This time,
the moves affects airport construction, not destruction -- and the
word came from the FAA, not city hall.

Responding to increased pressure from the governing body of the
European Union after deadly air crashes in Greece and Venezuela, EU
members France and Belgium announced plans to create "blacklists"
of risky air carriers flying throughout Europe.
"We are down to the nub. We can't possibly provide the
oversight we're required to do."

their own mandated safety inspection program in 2003, missing

major domestic carriers that year.
