Will Fly The Western Provinces
The China Flight Inspection Center
of Air Traffic Management Bureau of General Aviation of Civil
Aviation of China has signed contracts for two Citation XLS
business jets.
The Citation XLS will be based at Beijing's Capital City Airport
and will be used for flight inspection missions. Both aircraft are
scheduled to deliver in the second quarter of 2005. Although
a Citation Excel has been operating in China for several years,
this marks the first delivery of the Citation XLS, the successor to
the Citation Excel, to China.
The signing ceremony for the Citation XLS occurred on February
29, 2004, in Beijing. Senior leadership from the China Flight
Inspection Center, the Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC),
China Aviation Import & Export Supplies Company (CASC), and
Cessna Aircraft Company were at the important event.
"We are very proud that the Cessna Citation XLS have been
selected by the CAAC to serve as flight inspection aircraft. In
this critical role, the Citation XLS will help ensure the safety of
the growing airport and airspace system in the People's Republic of
China. Cessna aircraft are recognized around the world as the
best business and general aviation aircraft, and we are honored we
have an important role in safely expanding aviation in
China. We look forward to continued growth in the
Chinese aviation market, as well as expanding our 23 year
relationship with the Chinese government," said Todd Duhnke,
Cessna's Director of International Citation Sales.
"We look forward to taking delivery of the new Citation XLS
soon," said Captain Pan from the Flight Inspection Center of Air
Traffic Management Bureau of General Aviation of Civil Aviation of
China. "The XLS is an ideal aircraft for the challenging
conditions in China because it offers the best combination of
range, speed, payload and high altitude airport capabilities.
The CAAC will be able to better support the goal of expanding
China's aviation infrastructure to the Western Provinces because
the XLS can easily operate to rugged airports in the Western
Provinces and airports in the high altitude mountain areas."
The first Citation XLS deliveries are expected in mid-2004.
