Lockheed Martin's Big Sims All Certified, On Line

World's Leading Military Training Solutions Provider Does A320 and B737

Click to EnlargeThe Federal Aviation Administration has fully certified Lockheed Martin's A320, B737-300 and B737-800 aircraft simulators located at the Lockheed Martin Commercial Flight Training Center in Orlando (FL), right on a schedule that has been public for months, demonstrating both a high level of confidence and competence at the Orlando facility -- and a great cooperation and coordination between Lockheed Martin and the FAA.

Levels C and D

Airline pilot-candidates arriving for initial training and veteran pilots fulfilling periodic re-certification requirements undergo training in the center's full-flight simulators. Lockheed Martin's A320 (right) and B737-300 Electronic Flight Instrument System training simulators have received the FAA's Level C certification. (ANN flew the 737-300 last Fall.)

Level C training includes night and dusk visual scenes and allows pilots to qualify for actual flight duty after completing simulator flight training. The center's B737-800 Next Generation training simulator (bottom) is certified to the more advanced Level D that includes day visual scenes, additional visual cues and radar simulation and also allows pilots to qualify for actual flight duty after completing simulator flight training.

Convenient location; great for families, too.

"Lockheed Martin's more than 20 years of providing military pilot training is a solid foundation on which to expand our service to new commercial customers," said Lockheed Martin Information Systems President John Hallal, noting that a 2002 Frost & Sullivan analysis reported that Lockheed Martin leads in the development of military training and simulation products and solutions.

"Lockheed Martin has a tradition of fulfilling the unique needs of customers around the world. The Orlando location provides a wide range of support accommodations for flight crew training, with direct flight service from most airports."

Lockheed Martin's Commercial Flight Training Center procures products and services from more than 20 firms, including 11 small businesses, in its 24-hour/seven days per week operation. The 50,000 square foot training facility opened in 2000 with expansion space that will accommodate a total of seven simulators.

Additional Training Available

Along with full-motion training simulators, the Commercial Flight Training Center has a full range of support services, factory-trained simulator technicians, a professional training staff and 6 classrooms.
