FAA Issues Security Event Flight Advisory

New York City New Year’s Eve Celebration Sparks TFRs

As a result of the New Year’s Celebration planned in New York City December 31, 2007 thru January 1, 2008, the FAA, at the request of the Department of Homeland Security and the New York City Police Department, as part of the airspace security measures will be restricting flights in the vicinity of Manhattan. All aircraft flight operations are prohibited within the following area(s) unless otherwise authorized by ATC or except as described below:

New York City Restrictions: December 31, 2007 1900 Local until January 1, 2008 0200 Local. Over the land mass of Manhattan Island south of Cathedral Parkway/110TH Street, also described as an area bounded by the following coordinates:

404729N/0735609W to 404822N/0735815W to 404517N/0740028W to
404222N/0740111W to 404200N/0740054W to 404238N/0735840W to
404247N/0735833W to 404337N/0735817W to 404433N/0735820W to
404633N/0735631W to point of beginning, from the surface, up to and including 4,000
FT MSL.

1. Helicopter operations arriving and departing the West 30TH Street (JRA) Heliport are permitted provided pilots arrive and depart from over the Hudson River. NO OVERFLIGHTS OF MANHATTAN ARE PERMITTED.

2. Law Enforcement, military aircraft and emergency medical flights are authorized.
