CASA AD: Airbus

Applicability: AIRBUS A330-200 and A330-300 aeroplanes.
Requirement: Insert into the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) the following Temporary Revision (TR):

  • For A330-200 series aircraft: AFM TR 4.02.00/31
  • For A330-300 series aircraft: AFM TR 4.02.00/32

Note 1: These AFM TR’s will be incorporated in the next general revision of AFM.
Note 2: DGAC AD F-2005-195 EASA Approval No 2005-6415 dated 29 November 2005 refers.

Compliance: Before further flight from the effective date of this AD.

This Amendment becomes effective on 31 January 2006.

Background: An A330-200 series aeroplane, with Rolls Royce engines installed, was diverted following an extensive fuel leak. During the diversion, both engines shutdown due to lack of fuel. The resulting emergency landing was successful. Fuel management by the flight crew was considered to have directly contributed to the total loss of fuel. The original issue of this Directive gave a fuel leak procedure for the flight crew to follow after an in-flight fuel leak has been detected.

This amendment now reflects that the manufacturer has published temporary revision to the AFM, which details fuel management procedures.

The original issue of this AD became effective on 2 October 2003.
