Sonex Introduces Optional Pre-Assembled Spars

Sonex Aircraft is introducing a new labor-saving Sonex Aircraft Complete Airframe Kit option: Pre-Assembled Main Wing Spars for Sonex and Waiex airframes, in order to make "Sonex Aircraft easier to build than ever before." While retaining full compliance with the FAA’s Experimental Amateur-built “Major Portion” regulations, these pre-manufactured optional kit components can be expected to reduce Sonex Aircraft build time by a significant amount. This upgrade can be added to the purchase of Sonex and Waiex Complete Airframe Kits for $2,200.

“Sonex Aircraft is pleased to continue leading the industry by developing and producing simple and affordable aircraft and engine kit options,” remarked Sonex Aircraft, LLC General Manager and CEO Jeremy Monnett. “This new optional major assembly will make Sonex and Waiex Complete Airframe Kits even faster and easier to build, further reducing build time on two of the quickest-build airframe kits in their class.”

Those concerned about the rising costs of building homebuilt aircraft can rest assured, as Sonex Aircraft, LLC continues its commitment to offering the Best Performance Per Dollar, making this new kit addition purely optional. The standard Sonex Aircraft Complete Airframe Kit includes extruded and machined main wing spar caps, laser-cut and pilot-drilled main wing spar web laminations, and time-saving laser-cut main wing spar cap spacing tools.

“Combined with the affordable option of the AeroVee 2.0 Engine Kit,” continues Monnett, “a complete Sonex with everything required from spinner to tail wheel including engine, upholstery, propeller, and instruments can be purchased, constructed and flown for under $26,000. No other aircraft manufacturer in the world delivers as much in a complete aircraft package for as little money as the Sonex, Waiex, and Xenos do.”

Sonex Aircraft Pre-Assembled Spars are Sonex and Waiex (along with the Xenos coming soon) main wing spars that have been assembled from Sonex Complete Airframe Kit components and are shipped directly from Sonex Aircraft, LLC in Oshkosh, WI. Existing Sonex Aircraft builders may send their spar caps and webs back to Sonex Aircraft, LLC for assembly.
