ANN Seeking Additional Editorial Staff

Seeking Full- And Part-Time Positions for '09

Good news... we have a new editorial staffer coming onboard... but the simple fact remains that we're going to need to hire another one ASAP and yet another over the summer... if not sooner.

Yes, despite the economy, we're growing... slowly, carefully, but indeed we ARE growing. Changes are coming for ANN as fast as we can handle them -- and that includes the need for additional editorial staff for ANN and Aero-TV.  Expansion of our programming, as well as new features scheduled for debut in 2009, demand that we actually get some relief for the gnomes who toil here day by day, in the form of extra staffers.

We don't have to tell you what its like out there in the job-seeking game... but so far, we can note that ANN has been free from layoffs and has continued to add staff at a regular rate for a number of years. So far, so good.

The best part of this is simple... if you're into aviation, this could be your optimum gig... because that's all we do... 24/7 aviation. If you love this stuff, you might love working for ANN. The truth is, if you love your work, often it's like hardly working at all. We hope that's what working at ANN may be all about.

We've recently made a strong commitment to aggressive new growth in our services and programs, including a MAJOR site redesign and added functionality coming REALLY SOON NOW... and this growth will require a number of new staff positions be filled ASAP, especially in the Editorial/Staff Writing departments.

We've added some new folks to the roster lately, but we're STILL going to need more. In particular, we're looking for a Full-Time Associate Editor to help out during the week, and in a number of areas. Depending on your particular skills, and the time available, we're flexible... and may be able to taylor a particular position for the right applicant.

The best part is that you can do this job from virtually anywhere --  so long as you have a good high-speed net connection and the appropriate tools (and work discipline) to pursue the day's stories.

The qualified respondent needs the following --

  • SOLID aviation/aerospace writing and journalism credentials/abilities
  • SOLID photographic/graphic web smarts
  • Good basic web skills (light HTML know-how and some grasp of photo-editing) and E-Mail skills
  • A strong work/journalism ethic, and an ability to meet and adhere to tight deadlines
  • RELIABLE full-time access to a fairly speedy Internet connection (DSL, ADSL, T1, T3, Pipeline to the Almighty, etc...)
  • A computer with the ability to keep up with a number of graphic chores and editorial efforts, and the ability to work with a very strange crew of ANN weirdos. Since this job is computer based, it does not matter where you live and we are, of course, unconcerned about your workspace so long as the job gets done (and the less info we have about someone working in pink shorts and fuzzy bunny slippers, the better).
  • Persons with experience in electronic news-writing for radio or TV are particularly welcomed to apply, as our need for Aero-TV editorial staff is about to grow again.

Perhaps above all else, we need flexibility. As the saying goes, the news stops for no one... and while there are days a person can wrap up a full day's work in relatively little time, on some days you may be looking at 10-12 hours of hard work. It doesn't happen very often... but when it does, ANN counts on its staff to step up.

Interested?

Please send your resume, an intro letter, and contact information to ANN right away... as this position is ready and waiting for the right person, right now. We're contacting people who responded to our announcement earlier this month now... and if you haven't sent your resume in yet, do it soon!

And that's all you have to do! We'll be in touch!
