Sonex Intros Optional Pre-Assembled Spars For Xenos Motorglider

Also Offers Partial Xenos Machined Angle Kit

Sonex Aircraft, LLC announced this week the introduction of a new labor-saving Sonex Aircraft Complete Airframe Kit option: Pre-Assembled Main Wing Spars for the Xenos Motorglider. This upgrade can be added to the purchase of a Xenos Complete Airframe Kit for $4,000, and in the company's words makes "the best value in the motorglider market easier to build than ever before."

Additionally, a kit of Machined Angle Components common among Xenos, Sonex and/or Waiex airframes has been compiled for Xenos builders. The Xenos Machined Angle Component Kit consists of 43 parts CNC machined from 6061-T6 extruded aluminum angle stock and sells for $1,300. (Sonex adds there are 48 Xenos-specific parts not provided in this Machined Angle Component Kit, which must be fabricated from raw 6061-T6 extruded angle stock provided with the Xenos Complete Airframe Kit.)

While retaining full compliance with the FAA's Experimental Amateur-built "Major Portion" regulations, the pre-manufactured optional kit components can be expected to reduce Xenos build time by a significant amount, according to the company. Xenos Pre-Assembled Main Wing Spars can save 100 hours or more of construction time, while the Xenos Machined Angle Component Kit can save the builder an additional 100 hours or more of fabrication.

"Sonex Aircraft is pleased to continue leading the industry by developing and producing simple and affordable aircraft and engine kit options," said Sonex Aircraft, LLC General Manager and CEO Jeremy Monnett. "These new optional major assemblies and precision machined parts will make the Xenos Complete Airframe Kit even faster and easier to build, further reducing build time on an aircraft that represents the Best Performance Per Dollar in the motorglider market."

The standard Xenos Aircraft Complete Airframe Kit includes extruded and machined main wing spar caps, laser-cut and pilot-drilled main wing spar web laminations, time-saving laser-cut main wing spar cap spacing tools, and all extruded aluminum angle stock required to build the aircraft.

"Combined with the affordable option of the AeroVee 2.1 Engine Kit," continues Monnett, "a complete Xenos Motorglider with everything required from spinner to tail wheel including engine, upholstery, propeller, and instruments can be purchased, constructed and flown for under $32,000. No two-place motorglider available today delivers as much in a complete aircraft package for as little money as the Xenos does."
