Avidyne Claims 'Clear Market Leadership' In GA Avionics

Ships More Integrated Flight Deck Systems For New A/C Than Any Other Company Since 2003

It's only a few hours now until the official start of Oshkosh 2005, and the good news is cranking out rapidly--especially if you happen to be from Avidyne.

Avidyne tells ANN that it has achieved clear leadership in the integrated flight deck market (IFD) for GA since aircraft began shipping with Avidyne's Entegra IFD in early 2003. Avidyne notes that it 'outdistances its closest competitor in light general aviation by nearly two-to-one, and surpasses established IFD suppliers to business jets and turboprops by similar margins.'

Based on aircraft shipment data from the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) from the first quarter of 2003 through the first quarter of 2005, Avidyne tops the list of IFD suppliers for new GA aircraft with a dominant 37.3 percent, or at least 1,327 aircraft shipped with the Entegra system. In second is Rockwell Collins at 22.2 percent with 791, followed by Garmin at 20.6 percent with 724 and Honeywell at 19.9 percent with 709. The count is based on new aircraft shipments reported by manufacturers to GAMA. It does not include aircraft not yet in production for customer delivery.

"As the pioneer of the integrated flight deck for light general aviation aircraft we have taken the clear leadership position for IFD deliveries in all of GA,", said Mark Sandeen, Avidyne's vice president of sales and marketing.

"Our initial growth has been very strong thanks to our partnerships with some of the best and most successful aircraft manufacturers in the business. What's even more exciting is that our momentum is growing with new models nearing first-customer shipments and other manufacturers selecting Avidyne for aircraft now in development."

Among Avidyne customers currently shipping aircraft, Cirrus Design has the fastest-selling aircraft in GA. New Piper produces a popular, high-quality fleet from trainer to turboprop, while Columbia (formerly Lancair) Aircraft's innovative and speedy Columbia series and Symphony Aircraft's exciting two-seater are also seeing sales growth. In addition, Adam Aircraft, and Aviation Technology Group (ATG) are nearing first customer shipments of new Entegra-equipped aircraft.

"It's appropriate given our ongoing record of industry firsts that Avidyne should also be first in the market for system shipments," said Avidyne President Dan Schwinn. "This level of success clearly validates our vision and market strategy and sets the stage for a period of accelerating growth both in the numbers of aircraft shipping with Entegra but also in product capabilities that help make flying safe, efficient and fun."
