An Interesting Observation From The International Council of Air Shows

So... Why Is The USA Kicking Its Military Flying Teams To The Curb?

ICAS' John Cudahy notes that, "In the whole world, there are 43 active military formation aerobatics teams. The oldest (the French Air Force Patrouille de France) was formed in 1931. The newest (the Royal Thai Air Force Blue Phoenix) was formed in 2012.

Only two of them – the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds – have indefinitely cancelled their 2013 performance schedules."

Here’s a list of teams that WILL be performing in 2013:

French Air Force Patrouille de France, Republic of China (Taiwan) Air Force Thunder Tigers, Japanese Air Self-Defense Force Blue Impulse, Italian Air Force Frecce Tricolori, People’s Liberation Army Air Force (China) August 1st Aerobatics Team, Argentine Air Force Southern Cross Aerobatic Team, Royal Air Force (UK) Red Arrows, Swiss Air Force Patrouille de Suisse, Indian Air Force Sun Rays, South African Air Force Silver Falcons, Brazilian Air Force Smoke Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force Roulettes, Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds, Pakistan Air Force Sherdils, Egyptian Air Force Silver Stars, Portugese Air Force Wings of Portugal, Royal Jordanian Air Force Falcons, Royal New Zealand Air Force Red Checkers, Chilean Air Force Falcons, Polish Air Force Red and White Sparks, Spanish Air Force Eagle Patrol, Philippine Air Force Blue Diamonds, Royal Moroccan Air Force Green March, Russian Knights, Turkish Air Force Stars, Republic of South Korea Air Force Black Eagles, Indonesian Air Force Jupiter Blue Team, Finnish Air Force Midnight Hawks, Polish Air Force Orlik Aerobatic Team, Royal Saudi Air Force Hawks, Malaysian Air Force Smokey Bandits, Croatian Air Force Wings of Storm, United Arab Emirates Air Force Knights, People’s Liberation Army Air Force (China) Flying Wing Demonstration Team, People’s Liberation Army Air Force (China) Red Eagles, Royal Thai Air Force Blue Phoenix, Belgium Air Force Red Devils, and Danish Air Force Baby Blue.
