Surprise Valley: New Fly-In Getaway

Spa Offers Special Packages For Private Pilots

One of the great freedoms of being a private pilot is the ability to hop in the aircraft, crank the engine and go somewhere. The question usually comes up, however: where to go?

Surprise Valley Hot Springs is a blend of old-fashioned mineral spa and modern day inn. Each of the 10 Villas is decorated with unique themes ranging from The Greek Room, The Americana, The Buckaroo Room, The 1920‘s, and of course, The Pilot Room just to name a few.

Each Villa features it’s own private outdoor hot tub which is fed by a cascading waterfall of pure artesian mineral water. Guests can also receive a therapeutic massage in the newly finished Garden Spa.

Down In The Valley

Surprise Valley Hot Springs rests in a picturesque valley bordered by the majestic Warner Mountains in Cedarville (CA). Cedarville is about 3 hours by car from Redding (CA), Reno (NV) and Medford (OR). But it's the spa that grabs your attention.

The Fly-N-Soak™ package was designed for private pilots throughout the United States. Pilots can land their aircraft at the nearby Cedarville airport. It's 4,415 feet in length, with asphalt and lights, and is long enough to handle all types of aircraft, including some jets. The Fly-N-Soak™ package includes a 30 minute therapeutic massage, rental car, and room accommodations. This puts Surprise Valley Hot Springs within hours of many major cities, depending on the speed of the aircraft. Upon arrival, a rental car will be at the airport with directions for the short 5 minute drive to the Hot Springs.

Come In, The Water's Fine!

Natural occurring geothermal mineral wells on the property keep the tubs at approximately 101-104 degrees. The Villas and hot tub patios are heated geothermally, making for toasty feet on cold mornings. Smooth Jazz music can be selected from speakers near the tub. There are over 33 different minerals in the water all of which are said to be beneficial to one’s health. There is no sulfur in the water eliminating any rotten-egg smell. There are no chemicals used in the mineral water. After each guest soaks, the tubs are drained, cleaned, and then refilled. This process allows them to use pure 100% artesian mineral water for soaking.

One Family's Dream Comes True

The hot springs has been a dream of the Rose family for four generations. Surprise Valley Hot Springs was first called “Cedar Plunge” before E.E. Rose bought it in 1953. E.E. Rose, originally from Napa, CA, built the existing buildings soon after purchasing the property with a dream to open a health resort. E.E. passed away before completion, never to see his dream come true. Today, E.E. would be proud to see his son, Ken Rose Sr. (age 85); grandson, Ken Rose Jr. (age 63); and great-grandson, Curtis Rose (age 36) working together to complete what he once envisioned over 50 years ago.

ANN has been invited to visit the spa in the near future... something we earnestly intend to take them up on... we'll let you know if the experience is as good as the description implies.
