ULC Robotics, Los Gatos Research Partner To Test New Aerial Gas Leak Detection Sensor At Stanford University Event

ULC Robotics and Los Gatos Research (LGR) participated in the Mobile Methane Monitoring Challenge hosted by the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and Stanford University’s Natural Gas Initiative. ULC Robotics and LGR deployed their patented UAV-based sensor to identify the source of controlled methane leaks. The data obtained by the UAV and sensor will be compared to eleven other ground- and aerial-based technologies.

Launch Comes On The Heels Of The United Kingdom's Air Traffic Services Provider NATS Joining Aireon As Investors

Aireon has launched and deployed its sixth space-based Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) payload, hosted by the Iridium NEXT satellite constellation. A flight-proven SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifted off Tuesday from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, bringing the total number of Aireon payloads in orbit to 55. This leaves just two more launches of 10 satellites each before the launch campaign concludes in 2018. The Aireon system will go live in 2018, with the intention to start operational trials over the North Atlantic in early 2019.

DFW Airport To Begin Runway Rehabilitation Project

Will Use New Technology To Minimize Construction Time

Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport will begin a major infrastructure project to rebuild one of its busiest runways. The project for the refurbishment of Runway 17-Center/35-Center will begin on May 24 with a partial closure, which will still allow the southern portion of the runway to be used during daylight hours. Full closure of the runway will begin in August, with completion of the project slated for December.
