Airborne 06.09.14: Sunseeker Duo, Diamond DA62, Russian Fighters Hassle RC135

The Sunseeker Duo under development in Milan, Italy has become the first airplane in history to carry a passenger using only solar energy. It is reported that the airplane is the company's third, and it is powered by batteries charged only by 1,510 solar cells on its wings. The company says that the airplane can fly more than 12 hours with two people on board. When ANN first reported about Diamond's new DA62 twin last week, it was noted that it bore a striking resemblance to the DA52 the company had previously developed. The first of 30 enhanced CRJ900 NextGen aircraft has been delivered to American Airlines Group Inc. The aircraft will be operated by American Airlines Group wholly owned subsidiary PSA Airlines, Inc. under the American Eagle brand. The purchase agreement for the aircraft, which was announced in December 2013, also included options on an additional 40 CRJ900 NextGen aircraft.
