Had Previously Won Back-To-Back Championships In 2004 And 2005

After a week long flying competition in which Mother Nature drew most of the headlines, forcing cancelation of 50% of the flying opportunities, Paul Petrehn of Michigan won the 2013 U.S. National Hot Air Balloon Championship in Longview, Texas. It was his 3rd win as he had previously claimed the title in 2004 and 2005.

Piper Sells 10 More Trainers To ATP

Brings Total Number Of Airplanes Placed With The Company To 35

Airline Transport Professionals (ATP) has exercised options for 10 additional new Piper Archer TXs, bringing to 25 the total number of the single-engine training aircraft ordered by ATP so far in 2013. Piper and ATP jointly made the announcement on the first day of 2013 AirVenture Oshkosh. The 10 Archer TXs in the most recent order will be delivered in 2014.

The winners have been announced for the 16th Annual EAA AirVenture Cup cross country air race. The race started at 9:30 AM Sunday morning departing from Mount Vernon, IL with 2 turn points before ending in Waupaca, WI for a total mileage of 460 nm. The fastest aircraft of the day was a Turbine Legend, flown by Marty Abbott who came in at a time of 1:17:55 and an average speed of 354.30 mph.
