Bob Odegaard Lost in Super Corsair Accident

Airshow Practice Flight Goes Awry... Warbird Community Stunned

Its been a mean vicious few weeks for the aviation community as a number of beloved flyers have been hurt or killed by a number of tragic circumstances.... and it seems that fate has claimed a major name in the warbird community. Famed warbird pilot and craftsman, Bob Odegaard  -- one of the men responsible for the formation of the Fargo Air Museum and the Fargo AirSho -- was practicing for a weekend airshow when his Super Corsair went down Friday evening. Odegaard was 66 years old and came from Kindred, ND, where he had developed a world-wide rep as a master craftsman of war-era aircraft and an expert pilot, to boot.

FAA Reminder: Single Pilot Jet Proficiency Checks Coming

FAA Notice Number: NOTC4129

The FAA has sent out a notice reminding pilots that... "Beginning October 31, 2012, a proficiency check will be required annually for a PIC of any turbojet certified for single pilot operation. The rule, which was changed last year, gave pilots of these aircraft 1 year to obtain the necessary check before it becomes mandatory on 10/31/2012."

Braking Action Advisories When tower controllers have received runway braking action reports which include the terms “fair,” “poor,” or “nil,” or whenever weather conditions are conducive to deteriorating or rapidly changing runway braking conditions, the tower will include on the ATIS broadcast the statement, “Braking action advisories are in effect” on the ATIS broadcast.
