Back To Business: D-Jet Resumes Flight Testing

The Diamond D-JET Takes Major Step Toward Finishing Certification

Good grief, we hope this is a sign of better things to come, but a missive from Diamond Aircraft, possibly the only remaining GA manufacturer engaged in serious product development, tells us that the D-Jet program is back in the air. Diamond says that their  single-engine jet development program resumed flight testing of their D-JET prototypes, following their temporary grounding after a funding shortfall and significant employee furloughs in March, 2011.

In the Southern Hemisphere, spring officially begins September 23. That includes Antarctica, and for members of the US Air Force assigned to Operation Deep Freeze, late winter flights, known as WINFLY, for Operation Deep Freeze 2011-2012 began August 20. Deep Freeze is a joint service, interagency activity that supports the National Science Foundation (NSF), which manages the US Antarctic Program.

RAF aircraft put several military targets out of the reach of pro-Gaddafi forces in Libya Tuesday, including Scud missile launchers and a military command and control site. In an early morning sortie on August 30th, RAF Tornado and Typhoon aircraft used Paveway bombs to destroy a military command and control site which NATO surveillance had successfully identified near Bani Walid.

Pilot Sues Continental Express For What He Says Is Wrongful Grounding

Attorney Says He Was "Relieved of Duty for Refusing to Endanger Lives in Severe Weather"

An Atlantic Southeast Airlines pilot has filed a lawsuit against codeshare partner Continental Express claiming retaliation against him and ruin of his professional reputation. The suit claims the pilot was targeted because he took precautionary action during severe weather conditions, costing the company money. In the filing the pilot alleges the airline used his pursuit of treatment for depression during a divorce years before as reasoning for grounding him.
